Our Aerodynamics Department is comprised of subject matter experts across some of the following core areas.

  • Aerodynamic Development
Aerodynamic expertise is applied to the design, testing, and optimisation of critical race car components such as wings, floors, and suspension surfaces. Leveraging advanced tools like Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and wind tunnel testing, the focus is on maximising downforce, minimising drag, and enhancing overall performance. These efforts are central to Williams Racing’s commitment to innovation and technical excellence as the team strives to return to the front of the grid.

  • Computational Fluid Dynamics
CFD simulation tools and methodologies are developed and optimised to improve aerodynamic accuracy and efficiency. This includes enhancing solver performance, refining turbulence modelling, and advancing mesh generation techniques. These innovations play a critical role in supporting Williams Racing’s commitment to engineering excellence and continuous performance improvement, helping drive the team’s pursuit of competitive advantage through advanced technology.

  • Model Design
This area plays a vital part in supporting the Aerodynamics Department by constructing and maintaining high-precision wind tunnel models. These models are essential for enabling accurate aerodynamic testing and development, which directly contributes to Williams Racing’s mission of enhancing race car performance through continuous technical innovation. The work is hands-on, detail-oriented, and central to driving forward the team's competitive edge on the track.

  • Trackside Aerodynamics
Race operations are supported through the planning, coordination, and execution of trackside technology projects, including IT systems, infrastructure, and data services. These efforts ensure reliable performance and seamless integration across global race events, playing a crucial role in maintaining operational excellence. By enabling smooth and efficient technical delivery, this work directly contributes to Williams Racing’s competitive edge and commitment to high-performance innovation.
