Williams F1 Team is home to one of the most iconic collections of Formula One cars in the world, and our Heritage team ensures these machines continue to perform at the highest level at events, demonstrations and client programmes across the globe.

We are looking for a highly skilled, motivated Heritage No.2 Mechanic to take responsibility for the planning, coordination, preparation and build of Heritage Formula One cars and sub‑components, both at our factory and at worldwide events. This role plays a vital part in preserving our legacy while presenting and operating our cars to elite standards.

This position is offered as a 12‑month Fixed Term Contract, created to support exciting project work within the Heritage department, giving the successful candidate the opportunity to contribute directly to the delivery of high‑profile programmes and events throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the planning, coordination, preparation, build and servicing of F1 cars, subcomponents and pit equipment, (both Williams and client‑owned), before, during and after events.
  • Adhere to stringent technical specifications, design requirements and Williams standards at all times.
  • Travel regularly to support client events, demonstrations and racing activities worldwide.
  • Work to tight deadlines and targets set by management and the wider business.
  • Collaborate closely with the Heritage Car Assembly Manager, providing accurate data, forecasts and reports, and escalating technical or operational risks.
  • Maintain cars, equipment, garage/event spaces and the Heritage workshop to a world‑class standard, reflecting our showcase facility visited by VIPs, sponsors and high‑profile clients.
  • Update and manage departmental databases and technical documentation related to builds, lifing and maintenance.
  • Identify and communicate failed, missing or incorrect components and manage repair or replacement through the appropriate processes.
  • Support logistical planning and onsite storage requirements for events.
  • Ensure new or replacement components are correctly designed, procured and handled in line with Williams processes and policies.
  • Build strong working relationships across Heritage, Event Support, Race Team and third‑party suppliers.
  • Act as a positive influence within the team, supportive, proactive and solutions‑focused.
  • Contribute creative thinking to futureproof safe operation of Heritage Formula One cars.
  • Uphold and promote the Williams and Williams Heritage brand at all times.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in all aspects of the role.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Impeccable attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
