We are currently looking to recruit a motivated and skilled Data Processing Software Engineer to join our world-class Vehicle Engineering team.
In this factory-based role, the successful candidate will contribute towards the development of bespoke software applications that are used during race events to analyse car telemetry data in real time, to reliably provide additional high quality data that is vital for the analysis of vehicle performance. The projects can be varied in application and languages, including MATLAB and C# apps, .NET libraries, ECU code, interfacing with hardware/databases, and automated sensor data sanitisation algorithms.
The successful candidate will be proficient in MATLAB, Simulink or C# with a strong background in programming/software engineering evident through their experience in related previous roles, projects or placements.
As a Data Processing Software Engineer you will:
- Run and monitor our data processing software using live telemetry.
- Support our race team from Mission Control in Grove on a rotational basis and react quickly to sensor or data issues when the car is on track.
- Continually search for opportunities for improvement or automation.
- Develop your software engineering skills with support from the team.
- Collaborate with other departments to capture data requirements, for example to aid design or performance analysis, and gather feedback for continuous development.
Our ideal candidate is someone who is:
- Degree level qualified in a STEM field that involves software development such as Computer Science, Maths, Physics or Engineering.
- Able to debug software under pressure.
- Comfortable using Git source control and writing clear code documentation.
- A team player with an openminded, responsible, and constructive attitude.
- Well organised with the ability to clearly prioritise tasks and deliver to agreed deadlines.
They may also have experience in:
- Advanced programming techniques such as parallelisation, object-oriented programming, profiling, or GUI design.
- Other software and systems such as Python, SQL, or streaming services.
- McLaren Applied Technologies products such as ATLAS, vTAG, or ATLAS Data Server.
- Signal processing such as frequency analysis, outlier detection, or predictive models.
- Electronic sensors, control systems, or ECUs/microcontrollers
