RegisterWilliams is looking for a Heritage Car Assembly Manager, someone with hands-on experience building and running race cars, a deep understanding of historic motorsport, and a proven track record in workshop and project management.
This is a rare opportunity to lead the preparation and delivery of our iconic Heritage car collection and customer vehicles, working at the heart of a team that celebrates the legacy of Williams in Grand Prix racing. From restoration to event execution, you’ll ensure every car and component meets the highest standards on time, on budget, and ready to impress.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the build, preparation, and disassembly of Williams-owned and customer Heritage cars, ensuring timely and budget-conscious delivery.
- Oversee associated car equipment preparation for events, ensuring specification compliance.
- Manage Heritage team resources to meet departmental targets and optimise workflows.
- Collaborate with Design, Parts, Inventory, Race Coordination, and Business Development teams.
- Liaise with engine suppliers and technical personnel to meet engineering and event requirements.
- Identify and report faults and reliability risks, working with Design to resolve issues.
- Implement best practices to improve build quality, reliability, and reduce workshop time.
- Track technician time via in-house software to support efficiency analysis.
- Develop and manage detailed project plans, budgets, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Provide regular updates to the Heritage Director and stakeholders.
- Ensure alignment with organisational project management frameworks and change control processes.
About You
You’re an experienced motorsport professional with a solid grounding in the historic (ideally) car industry. You enjoy a fast-paced environment and bring a proactive, hands-on approach to everything you do. With strong organisational and project management skills, you’re confident leading workshop operations and coordinating across departments to deliver high-quality results.
You’re a natural communicator who builds strong relationships internally and externally, and you’re comfortable adapting to the demands of live events and tight deadlines. Your technical expertise is matched by your attention to detail and your ability to juggle multiple projects without compromising on quality whilst delivering on time.
For almost 50 years, Atlassian Williams Racing has been at the forefront of one of the fastest sports on the planet, being one of the top three most successful teams in history competing in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship. With an almost unrivalled heritage of engineering and racing F1 cars and unforgettable eras that demonstrate it is a force to be reckoned with, the British squad boasts 16 F1 World Championship titles to its name.
Since its foundation in 1977 by the eminent, late Sir Frank Williams and engineering pioneer Sir Patrick Head, the team has won nine Constructors’ Championships, in association with Cosworth, Honda and Renault. Its roll call of drivers is legendary, with its seven Drivers’ Championship trophies being lifted by true icons of the sport: Alan Jones, Keke Rosberg, Nelson Piquet, Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, Damon Hill and Jacques Villeneuve. The team has made history before and is out to make it again with a long-term mission to evolve and return to the front of the grid.
Technical Skills
- Strong mechanical and electrical understanding of race car systems.
- Familiarity with legacy F1 technologies.
- Experience using workshop management software and time-tracking tools.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Demonstrates a strong ability to plan, manage, and deliver complex technical projects on time and within budget.
- Applies commercial awareness to identify cost-saving opportunities, optimise resource allocation, and ensure every project aligns with business objectives and customer expectations.

- High attention to detail and quality assurance.
- Adaptability to changing priorities and event schedules.
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent in Motorsport Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Automotive Technology.
- Additional certifications in project management or leadership are a plus.
- Health & Safety training relevant to workshop and event environments.
