Commercial Ideation Manager

Reporting to the Senior Commercial Ideation Manager and working closely with senior members of the Commercial Team, the Commercial Ideation Manager leads the development and delivery of insight driven prospective partner proposals and pitches. This role supports the overarching commercial and partnership strategy of Williams Racing by creating differentiated and creative proposals, ensuring Williams Racing remains a top choice among potential partners. The Commercial Ideation Manager also contributes significantly to implementing new processes that promote cross-departmental efficiency, supporting Williams Racing’s evolution into a world-class sporting franchise.

Main Duties:

  • Collaborate with Sales, Commercial Strategy, and Partnerships Teams to create and deliver high quality, insight-driven proposals and pitches for both new and existing partners, driving revenue.
  • Define prospects’ business and brand objectives through qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Identify brand narratives and activation concepts that present compelling commercial opportunities and resonate with target audiences.
  • Present data, strategies, and concepts in prospect and partner-facing meetings in a clear, concise manner.
  • Leverage proprietary brand research and syndicated market research tools to develop actionable insights that address partner challenges.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the sales pipeline to support outreach and prospecting efforts.
  • Stay current on sports sponsorship trends, sharing relevant examples and creative inspiration to the wider team.
  • Oversee documentation development for the Commercial team to ensure timelines are met, facilitating swift responses to market demands.
  • Lead cross-departmental workflows, ensuring opportunities are prioritized effectively and managed efficiently.
  • Communicate deadlines clearly, ensuring all relevant functions meet key milestones.
  • Deliver final materials based on clear creative briefs and stakeholder requirements.

  • Effective Workflow Management: Balance multiple concurrent projects, optimizing cross-functional collaboration and ensuring on-time delivery of all materials.
  • Strategic Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate strong relationships with internal teams (Sales, Commercial Strategy, Partnerships) to align proposals with broader commercial and partnership goals.
  • Market Awareness & Adaptability: Maintain awareness of sponsorship and sports marketing trends, applying creative thinking to evolve proposal strategies and stand out in a competitive marketplace.
  • Commercial Rights Understanding: Ability to complement insight-led partnership strategies and creative activation ideation with bespoke rights mixes that meet our commercial objectives.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement new processes to drive cross-departmental efficiency as Williams Racing continues to grow.

Qualifications and Experience Level:

  • Demonstrable sports industry experience at either brand, rightsholder or agency.
  • Demonstrated experience in brand marketing within sports—preferably within the partnerships space—with an understanding of media values, digital/social media marketing, and sponsorship activation, including how commercial rights co-exist with partnership strategies.
  • Proven track record of creative sponsorship strategy and activation to support proposition building.
  • High level of IT literacy, including MS Office and Adobe Suite.
