Design Quality Industrial Placement

Functional Header Description: 

In the Design Quality team, we organise data, documentation and own many processes which are key to supporting the engineers within Vehicle Design. For example, we help check and approve design releases. And we refine processes. We also work with Production Operations to improve processes.  

Design Quality Industrial Placement  

As a Design Quality Industrial Placement student, you’ll play a critical role in the Vehicle Design department, focusing on data control, document management, and process improvement. This role offers the opportunity to learn how the processes and systems of the design office work and how we exchange data and information with our operations colleagues. 

Shape the Future 

• Organise and manage data, information, and documentation within the Vehicle Design department to support efficient workflows. 

• Validate design releases in the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with standards. 

• Investigate and implement process improvements between the design office and operations departments to enhance collaboration and efficiency. 

Make Real Impact 

• Ensure the integrity and traceability of design data, directly supporting the quality and reliability of engineering outputs. 

• Drive improvements in how design information is shared and used across departments, helping to streamline operations. 

• Play a key role in maintaining high standards of documentation and data control, which are critical to successful vehicle development.

Find Your Place 

• Background in an engineering discipline with a solid understanding of engineering parts and systems. 

• Experience with technical computing software, SharePoint, and Microsoft programs is beneficial — especially if you enjoy working with these tools. 

• Hands-on experience in designing, making, modifying, installing, or maintaining engineering components is highly valued. 

• Strong communication skills, logical thinking, and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.
