We are looking for a driven and highly skilled Health & Safety Adviser to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in developing our Health & Safety governance while supporting the business in fulfilling its client duties under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015).

You will provide expert guidance throughout the full project lifecycle from early concept through to completion, ensuring that robust arrangements are in place to effectively manage health and safety risks. This is a collaborative, advisory role working closely with Principal Designers, Principal Contractors, and internal project teams across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

CDM & Project Support

  • Provide clear, practical advice to project teams on their duties under CDM 2015, particularly at project inception, ensuring early consideration of health and safety requirements.
  • Ensure adequate client arrangements are in place for effective health and safety management across all CDM projects.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Collate and review project documentation including Pre‑Construction Information (PCI), Construction Phase Plans (CPP), and Health & Safety Files.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with legislation, project requirements, and internal business standards.

Risk Management

  • Support the creation and review of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), ensuring suitability and relevance to project-specific risks.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as a key point of contact for the client, maintaining strong communication with Principal Designers and Principal Contractors to ensure coordinated health and safety management.
  • Champion a positive safety culture across the business, delivering toolbox talks and supporting the Health & Safety Committee.
  • Lead accident and incident investigations, providing root cause analysis and recommendations.

General Advisory Duties

  • Provide ongoing advice and guidance on a broad range of health and safety topics.

Accountabilities

  • Demonstrate and promote Williams Values & Behaviours.
  • Maintain high personal standards of conduct, acting as a positive ambassador for the department.
  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety obligations.
  • Uphold brand standards and contribute to continuous improvement across the department.
  • Understand and work within cost cap rules and requirements.

Core Competencies

  • Proven experience in a health and safety advisory role within a construction environment.
  • Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and an excellent understanding of client responsibilities.
  • Experience in site inspections, audits, and producing associated reports.
  • Solid understanding of construction risk assessment and method statements.
  • Confident communicator able to engage effectively with project managers, designers, contractors, and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications

  • Level 6 Health and Safety Management qualification.
  • CDM‑relevant training such as SMSTS or NEBOSH Certificate in Health and Safety Management for Construction.
  • Background in construction, health and safety, and/or process safety.
