As a Senior Performance Optimisation Engineer, you will be a key contributor in our pursuit of unlocking every ounce of performance from our Formula 1 car. You will joining the Performance Optimisation Team, a group dedicated to solving the most challenging questions in vehicle performance using state-of-the-art simulation tools and our Driver-in-the-Loop (DIL) simulator.
You’ll work closely with various departments within our technical team to shape the next generation of car concepts. Your strong understanding of vehicle dynamics and engineering from first principals will guide attribute targets for future cars, as well as driving the current car development at pace.
We're looking for someone who will influence the development of our performance application processes, deliver insightful studies and relentlessly pursue the next performance opportunities to deliver race wins.
About You
This role demands technical excellence, clear communication, and a growth mindset. You will thrive in a high-performance culture that values curiosity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
You will have substantial experience in applied vehicle dynamics, tyre science, or aerodynamic performance, ideally within Formula 1 or elite motorsport. You’ll combine strong technical experience with simulation and analytical tools like Matlab and Python, with the knowledge for how simulation studies translate to on-track behaviour. Analytical, proactive, and collaborative, you’ll thrive in an evolving environment where detail, data, and driver feedback come together to define performance.
Key Responsibilities
Lead simulation and analysis work across key performance areas, including aero characteristics, tyre and suspension optimisation, and stiffness vs. weight trade-offs.
Conduct and interpret vehicle dynamics studies using our DIL simulator.
Investigate and research emerging performance areas relevant to car development.
Actively maintain cross-functional relationships with engineering, design, and operations teams.
Integrate innovative methodologies and tools based on latest industry trends and technological advancements.
Support race and test events as required, including occasional weekend work - this will be on an ad hoc basis.
